THE AIM IS TO USE THIS INFO TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION FOR FAMILIES

Juliet Grayson was the co-founder of
StopSO (The Specialist Treatment Organisation for
Perpetrators and Survivors of Sexual Offences) and
Chair from 2011-2019.
She has created this website, and designed the questionnaire.

This questionnaire is to gather data which she intends to use anonymously,

A) To give information to those family members who have recently been affected by sexual offending, e.g. to give an indication of the range of sentences, length of time it has taken from arrest to sentencing, etc.
B) To help the general public understand the impact of sexual offending on the families of those accused.
C) To publish data in an article or a book.
D) She may allow other researchers to access this data too.

She hopes that his may be useful in some way for families and for people accused of sexual offences in the future.

There is some factual info it would be helpful if you gather:
Month and year of ‘the knock’
What was the accusation, or what was originally found
Approx dates (month and year) when it went to magistrates court and crown court (if relevant)If charged, what were the charges (the more specific the better)?
If it has gone to court, how did the offender plead?
If relevant, approx dates (month and year) when the case was heard at magistrates court, and at crown court.
If there has been a sentence, what was it? Did that include SHPO, SOR etc
Did you have electrical equipment (eg computers, phones etc) taken away? Has any of it been returned? If yes, how long was it kept?
Approximately what has been the financial cost so far?

CONSENT FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE STUDY

The researcher, Juliet Grayson, requests your consent for participation in a study about the experience of family members of people who have either been accused of, or who have committed a sexual offence.

This consent form asks your permission, for Juliet Grayson to use and share the answers to this questionnaire, to enhance understanding of the topic.

All the information that we collect about you during the course of the study will be kept strictly cofidential.

The content will be anonymised, and may be made available to the general public on a website, used in an article(s) or a book(s).

The anonymised answers may also be made available to other researchers.

This research questionnaire has been created by Juliet Grayson and is not funded by anyone else, or any other organsation.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary. If you decide not to participate there will not be any negative consequences.

Please be aware that if you decide to participate, you may stop participating at any time and you may decide not to answer any specific question.

The researcher will maintain the confidentiality of the research data.

By submitting this form you are indicating that you have read the description of the study, are over the age of 18, and that you agree to the terms as described.

If you have any questions, or would like a copy of this consent form please contact me at juliet@therapyandcounselling.co.uk

Thank you in advance for your participation. PLEASE TELL OTHERS ABOUT THIS FORM – BECAUSE IF WE GET ENOUGH PEOPLE FILLING IT IN, IT WILL REPRESENT A DOCUMENT THAT MIGHT CHANGE ATTITUDES, and INFORM PROFESSIONALS ABOUT WHAT IS NEEDED

The first part is simply getting your permission, the second part is the actual questionnaire. NB You can come back to it if you start filling it in and then run out of time. BUT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE A NOTE OF THE LINK FOR ‘EDIT YOUR REPONSE’ (perhaps copy and paste that from the address bar) if you want to come back and complete it. OR put a code name in (the final question of part 2) so we can link up your answers to your previous answers.

The only questions that are comulsory are those where we are asking for permission to use and publish your answers. All other questions are optional.
